Abstract

The main objective of this tutorial is to learn to select the most appropriate empirical method to validate the different technologies (processes, methods, devices, etc.) proposed in projects carried out in the context of software engineering. To this end, there will be an overview of the main empirical methods: experiments, surveys and case studies, analyzing the pros and cons of each. In addition, there is going to be a special emphasis in the fact that not always the application of a single method is sufficient, that sometimes it is necessary to combine many methods in order to achieve objectives.
